Enertek Building

Company History

Enertek International was incorporated in June 1988, but owes its beginnings to the Partnership Enertek Europa which was formed two years earlier. Enertek Europa was created by Dr Terry Howells and Ken Pickering who were previously Technical Director and R&D General Manager for a major UK boiler manufacturer.

The partnership was created as a desk based consultancy to offer market and specification advice, but the partners soon recognised the demand for independent design and development services. They acquired premises in Beverley and after two years the business had grown to include a prestigious client list. Incorporating the business (Enertek International Ltd.) was seen as the route to further expansion.

In 1997 Paul Needley and Stephen Taylor, with the impending retirement of the previous owners, seized the opportunity and completed a management buyout.

2005 saw a major investment and relocation of the company to a brand new 10,000 sq ft purpose designed facility at Sutton Fields in Kingston Upon Hull.

Since 2005 continuous investment has expanded the company’s services, facilities and workforce to provide a modern laboratory incorporating state of the art equipment to support the expertise and experience of the professionally qualified staff.

In 2014, the company started operating in accordance with the laboratory quality Standard BS EN ISO 17025 and received UKAS Accreditation during 2016.

2016 has also seen the retirement of Stephen Taylor from the business, thus making Paul the sole Managing Director.
