Computational Fluid Dynamics

Enertek offer  Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) as a bespoke service in addition to incorporating it into design and development activities.

The main benefit of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) over conventional techniques is that if predicted performance is inadequate modifications can be rapidly made to the model to produce a solution. This can save many weeks and substantial cost associated with manufacturing and testing multiple prototypes.

Computational Fluid Dynamics provides much more insight into the physics involved in a particular design compared to experimental investigations and traditional calculations. This enables engineers to make much more informed decisions on how a design can be improved.

It can also be used to predict physical parameters in environments in which experimental investigation is very difficult, e.g. small and difficult to access flow channels, highly aggressive or very hot liquids/gasses etc.

Trouble shooting problem areas in products at end use is another area where Computational Fluid Dynamics can prove to be very useful.

Software used by Enertek for liquid/gas flow, heat transfer and structural stress calculations include:

  • 'Ansys Fluent'.
  • 'SolidWorks Simulation' package.
  • It can also be coupled with other software like Finite Element Analysis (FEA) packages for evaluation of stress.
